Our VALUES

Picture

Be community minded

Being community minded and getting more involved with local clubs helps our rural communities survive.
Stronger rural communities  will create a stronger rural industry.

Be Proficient

If it is worth doing, it is worth doing well. Our interns will graduate with a practical knowledge and proficiency in farming systems, underpinned by professional knowledge.

be welL

Being well acknowledges that the traditional ‘she’ll be right’ attitude isn't good enough. Creating healthy habits that promote a balanced lifestyle is an essential component of the programme.

be professional

Being a professional both in and out of the paddock teaches self respect and respect for those around you. Our course graduates will become role models and industry mentors.

be Life Long Learners

We expect our interns to be lifelong learners. Being passionately committed to the industry requires continuous practical, personal and professional development.

As well as creating capable and confident farming professionals, we also want our female graduates to inspire others and become mentors themselves.

Our aspiration is to provide graduates with the confidence and ability to pursue any role, and advance their career into whichever area of our rural industry they are most pasionate about.

To do this, we provide a well-rounded programme with personal and professional development workshops and leadership training.

Each year our interns complete the Leadership in Agriculture programme with HALO Training which helps them focus on the human side of leadership to empowering people, teams and organisations and teaches them how to thrive in times of adversity.

OUR course

We are passionate about helping more females succeed in the rural industry.
The Fairlight Foundation is proud to offer a robust practical, personal and professional development course just for New Zealand women.

First Let's

Learn
Our programme immerses the interns in working station life while also providing the opportunity to complete qualifications through practical skills certification and agricultural courses with our academic partners.

Now let's WORK

On Farm
The stock handling curriculum follows the farming calendar where the interns will jump right in to learning on the job and lending a hand during busy times like weaning, mustering, calving,
lambing, winter grazing and shearing.

IT'S UP TO US

Change
Aspiring rural leaders need plenty of hands on experience but they also need a road map and off farm guidance to achieve their goals. Our programme therefore helps our interns develop personally and professionally as well as practically.
